The Lovers Tarot Card: Beauty and the Beast

This is a piece for the upcoming Tarot Card gallery coming up in April. Everyone was given a tarot card at random for there theme. I was extremely pleased to get the "Lovers Card", since I am a hopeless romantic and love LOVE theme art. I read up on the Lovers card and found out that it is about how opposites attract and that love is all about balance (light and dark). I thought how better to portray this other than my favorite childhood story, Beauty and the Beast. Since this is a French story, I thought that it would be great to make it in a french style and go Art Nuvo and write "The Lovers" in french as well.

This piece was very fun, but very challenging to create as I had to figure out how to make this piece stable and hang-able since I was making it out of clay on a board. I ended up making a mold and casting it in resin so that it would be less breakable and easier to reproduce.

This piece is 10" x 20" and is painted with acrylics on resin.

Whaling Willow

This sculptured was inspired by Carlos Guzman's painting done in watercolor. It was a fun challenge to recreate his painting into a 3 Dimensional piece. This is a sculpture that is in the "Games We Play" gallery at Nieto Fine Arts in San Fransisco.
